Soon I will be retiring and entering a new phrase of my life; a second career. I had no idea what to do or expect at an employment interview. One day, I heard Evan on the radio, and I was amazed at how articulate and knowledgeable he is about the hiring/interview process. Based on what I heard that evening, I decided to read Evan's book, and it set my nerves at ease. Evan outlines how to prepare for the interview, and more importantly, how to control the format. For instance, he explains that not only being nicely groomed and wearing a proper suit are important; but, he even mentions that such things like polishing your shoes are equally important. He also lists questions that will most likely be asked and what the correct reply should be. He went into great detail about how it is extremely important for the applicant to ask for the job at the conclusion of the interview. That my friend's is the most important phase of the interview. Just like a real estate agent, closing the deal is all that matters. The Interview Science is a must read for anyone seeking employment.
This book is written in an easy-to-read, informative and enjoyable style, and is LOADED with some of the best advice on job interviews that I have ever read. I highly recommend it to anyone who is involved in the job interview process. I wish I had this information when I was an interviewee or interviewer (and I've been both numerous times in my career). I have been, and still am, a senior executive in companies that have ranged from ones whose revenue was in the tens of millions of dollars to ones that generated over a billion dollars in sales, so I think I have some credentials to back my review of this book.
