Until her very own knight appears in the form of Dominic, the tenth Duke of Roth. Dominic is startled to find such a paragon in distress but quickly decides she can be of use to him. The Mistletoe Mistress A Christmas Regency Novella Risque Regency Book 3 edition by Kate Harper Romance eBooks

I loved this Christmas time regency novella. It's well written, with an unusual, interesting plot, and wonderful characters. The most striking thing about it--for me--was the hero, Dominic. Dominic is unlike any other Duke I've encountered in my reading career. He's so cheerful, so laidback, so easy going, not at all the usual arrogant ducal type, but that's probably because he grew up as a second son. Furthermore, as easy-going and laidback as he is, he has an implacable spine of steel that comes into play when necessary. As for Annabel, she is sweet, sensible, and kind.

Annbel finds herself stranded in the middle of nowhere with no money and resources. Dominic, Duke of Roth, happens along, and seeing her standing outside the inn in the cold, offers his assistance. Annabel is clearly a gently-reared lady, albeit a destitute one. Moreover, as far as Dominic is concerned, she is the most desirable woman he has ever encountered. The sexual tension between the two is scorching!

Dominic is en route home for Christmas, where his mother is hosting a house-party. The duchess is intent on getting Dominic married off to an eligible lady of HER choosing. Dominic is just as determined to choose his own bride, when he is ready to do so.

Aware that his mother has no doubt invited a slew of young ladies to present as potential brides, Dominic comes up with a plan whereby he will arrive at his estate with a fiancée. This plan he hits upon while trying to decide how to best assist the stranded Annabel. Presenting her as his fiancée will, he thinks, help him stave off his mother's latest machinations to see him appropriately wed. He proposes a deal to Annabel, whereby he would get her safely to her destination, if she agrees to pretend to be his fiancée for the period of his mother's house-party.

A deal is struck and the two embark on preparations for their ruse. From there the story quickly progresses to the HEA. Dominic's mother is the quintessential witch. The lengths she is willing to go to, in order to force Dominic to choose one of her potential brides, is astounding!

The love that blossoms between Annabel and Dominic, occurs super quick...this is practically a case of love at first sight, it was that quick. Yet, for all that, I found it to be very believable.

The story is extremely entertaining; it's sweet, and funny, and makes for light reading. I absolutely loved it and would highly recommend it as a worthwhile read. There is even an epilogue depicting the couple's life together a year down the road...I LOVE epilogues! FYI, this is technically not a "clean" romance (not if you are someone who does not like sex of any kind in your romance novels.) There are a couple of love scenes, which IMO, are not overly descriptive. Happy reading!

You get hooked from the first and then can't put this novella down until you finish reading to the end. Our hero's mother is determined to have her son marry 1 of the 4 girls she's picked out for him. He literally finds a woman stranded by the side of a building and asks her to be his pretend finance. He takes her to his aunt who outfits the heroine a wardrobe. The hero then takes his finance to the Christmas party his mother is giving. Feelings develops between our hero and heroine and we have a happy ending. I would recommend this to e everyone who likes romances. It tops my feel good reading I will keep and reread.

The author gives us a nicely turned story with sufficient heat.

But...

Since the word Regency is in the title I would place this story loosely from 1800 to 1825. And I can assure you that the only people who would have a Christmas tree would be the very German Royal Family (actually starting in 1800) and maybe a few scattered German immigrants residing in England. Christmas trees did not become a staple with the John Bull Englishman until the Victorian age when Victoria and Albert made it popular. The author made this same error in another one of her novellas.

Again, what is the issue with not getting titles and addresses correct? The Web is littered with sites that explain proper British titles and forms of addresses.

But if one doesn't mind the historical inaccuracies (and a bit of anachronistic dialogue), one should find this an entertaining, quick read.
Sometimes fate can be kind and the Mistletoe Mistress demonstrates this beautifully. The heroine and hero are fated to find each other.

Annabel Cresswell is literally stranded without money and wondering what her next move is when a very handsome man comes to her rescue. Dominic the Duke of Roth is on his way to his mother's home for Christmas and he dreads it. His mother wants to see him married and to the woman she wants. She has assembled several women for the occasion. Dominic hires Annabel to pose as his fiancé which will anger his mother and keep the marriage minded misses at bay.

Annabel agrees to the scheme but is unaware that Dominic is a Duke. She almost balks when she discovers the truth but she is attracted to Dominic. Together the leads pull off a sweet masquerade and find their feelings quickly engaged. This is a fun quick read and this couple creates a lovely Christmas romance.
I really enjoyed this story a lot. I would have enjoyed it being longer as there is a big leap from the last chapter to the epilogue, but that is normal in these short novellas. However big the leap is, it does not take away from the store, I only say I would have enjoyed it being played out a little more because I enjoyed the characters so much.

Annabel is "rescued" from her dire circumstances by Dominic the Duke of Roth...at least for the week. Dominic, while not having the problems that the lovely Annabel faces, is faced by the problem of having a mother that is intent on the latest Duke of Roth, making a good match of her choosing. Upon finding the lovely and destitute Annabel he sees a temporary fix for both of them which turns into much more than he ever planned.

The hostility between Annabel, Dominic and Dominic's mother is enjoyable to read and you find yourself loathing the mother and her antics without any difficulty.

The epilogue shows a glimpse into the characters lives a year later and while predictable, you are very happy with the situations they find themselves in.

Another enjoyable read from Kate Harper, looking forward to future books.
